Chameleon Keep the Pulse Alive

Pulse Alive is a large-scale performing arts event, celebrating talented students from NSW public schools in Greater Sydney and beyond. It provides high-quality opportunities in music, dance, visual arts and public speaking to students from all over the state.

PULSE Alive combines the best of the Arts Alive Primary Choral Concerts and the PULSE Concert into an extravaganza held at Ken Rosewall Arena, Sydney Olympic Park.

For lighting designer Christopher Snape the venue was the biggest challenge on this one as he says that they have never had anything in there like this before.

“I wasn’t allowed to hang anything on the truss they have in there or use any haze so it was basically all floor support – great for any fixtures that needed looking at!” said Christopher. “I could plot during the day basically a blind plot, then go through everything once the sun went down.”

This show was due to open this time last year, then September last year and then finally postponed to this year.

“Luke Cuthbertson was the Production Manager for me and did an awesome job!” added Christopher. “Rebecca Bain looked after the rig for me and I was so happy to have her with me on this one – she’s amazing!

“Over 2000 kids were involved in the show from students performing to VET students working the show. I had sixteen on my team with two on each followspot and they did so well.”
