Celestion has announced the debut of the CDX14-3035, a new 1.4-inch-exit, ferrite magnet, single-piece titanium diaphragm high-frequency compression driver that’s an upgraded version of the legacy CDX14-3030 model in offering increased power handling capability of 120 watts nominal (measured to AES standard)/240 watts continuous and enhanced sensitivity of 108 dB.
It also offers a lower minimum crossover point of 800 Hz (12 dB/octave) to increase application flexibility versus the earlier model. In addition, it provides the same HF performance as the CDX14-3045 neodymium HF compression driver but is designed for applications such as cabinets for larger fixed installations and heavy-duty line array systems where size and weight are less important than cost considerations.
Several design elements contribute to the driver’s linearity, durability, and low distortion performance, beginning with a new, single piece titanium diaphragm and surround. The surround’s shape has been enhanced for added linearity and incorporates a high temperature polymer clamp ring that’s designed to minimize distortion and contribute to lower overall distortion. The driver utilizes a 3-inch diameter edgewound copper clad aluminum voice coil, has an 8-ohm rated impedance, and a 1.4-inch throat exit.
“The CDX14-3035 delivers exceptional high-frequency performance and robust power handling, bringing the quality expected from Celestion into a cost-effective ferrite package,” states Ken Weller, marketing manager at Celestion. “Its high 108 dB sensitivity and 240-watt continuous rating make it an ideal choice for sound reinforcement applications demanding reliability and high output.”
