Casuals – Cultural Centre

Wyndham City is looking for experienced and motivated theatre technicians to join the Cultural Venues team at the Cultural Centre initially, and across other Cultural Venues facilities in the future.

Duties will include assisting hirers through the bump in or bump out of shows, providing technical support, operating sound, lights, audio-visual (AV) and staging for performances.

You are a team player with clear communication skills. You have the ability to provide excellent customer service, work with a diverse range of people, problem solve and think creatively. Your experience in theatre, knowledge of the performing arts industry and technical proficiency in staging, lighting and/or sound will see you succeed in this role.

This position will involve some weekend and evening shifts due to performance requirements.

The role is responsible for:

* Setting up the technical equipment and sets for theatre hirers and touring companies.

* Operation of technical elements such as Lighting, AV, Stage and Sound equipment for theatre productions.

* As directed by the Area Leader Theatre Operations and the Team Leader Theatre Operations, carrying out tasks relevant to the technical operations required for the staging of theatre productions.

* Ensuring that hirers and cast members adhere to safe practices while within the theatre.

* As directed, maintaining the venue and equipment to a professional standard of cleanliness and presentation.

* Adhering to council and venue specific policies and procedures at all times.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have at least 2 years of venue experience in one or more disciplines of technical theatre. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to maintain professional composure at all times and enjoy the prospect of working with diverse groups of community and professional theatre-users in an exciting and sometimes high pressure environment. This role does require some lifting and climbing ladders.

This position will involve some weekend and evening shifts due to performance requirements.
