POSITION PURPOSE
The Casual Theatre Technician will assist in the preparation, installation and running of Queensland Ballet and/or Thomas Dixon Centre productions and events, ensuring that all technical requirements are met in a safe and professional manner so that an exceptional standard of technical operation and safety is always upheld.

Reports to Technical Manager (Lighting), Technical Manager (Staging), Technical Manager (TDC)
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the preparation and running of productions and events, ensuring that all technical requirements are met in a safe and professional manner.
• Undertake work across technical disciplines (staging, sound, video, lighting,) and/or in a specialist discipline as required.
• Carry out maintenance of services and equipment at sites operated by QB as required.
• Utilise appropriate safety practices and procedures and ensure all WHS requirements are adhered to.
• Proactively support the production team and the wider QB teams to ensure activities can be safely achieved within the established schedule and resources.
• Perform additional relevant duties as required to address production needs.
KEY CRITERIA
1. Relevant qualifications in staging, sound and/or lighting design (or willingness to obtain) combined with working knowledge of theatre industry operation and design, theatre equipment and maintenance.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate clearly and consistently with all theatre and event space users, especially non-technical users.
3. Highly organized with successful experience in meeting deadlines and effectively managing conflicting priorities.
4. Confident ensuring adherence to WHS requirements including manual-handling/heavy lifting of theatre equipment, climbing ladders etc.
5. Confident working independently and able to work effectively across departments, collaborating effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.

• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
• Passion for the Arts, Ballet and/or dance.

Ability to work flexibly in line with relevant production requirements, across various locations.
Salary
Salary will be negotiated with preferred candidate. Superannuation is paid into the superannuation fund of your choice, currently at the rate of 10.5%.
