Casual Theatre Technicians

The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for Casual Theatre Technicians.  Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking outstanding candidates to provide technical support in a professional and efficient manner whilst ensuring the delivery of a customer-focused, industry best practice service to venue hirers and users.  These roles are based at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre but at times, will require the successful applicant to work within the region including Bowen, Collinsville and Airlie Beach/Cannonvale.  The roles require work generally outside of business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Essential

  • Must possess and maintain a current Queensland “C” Class motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Qualifications and/or demonstrated theatre-based technical experience across multiple disciplines including lighting, sound and staging as a minimum.
  • Practical knowledge of theatrical and entertainment practices with the ability to troubleshoot and forward think.
  • Strong focus on safety with the ability to undertake risk assessments and identify hazards in everyday tasks.
  • Proven interpersonal and team skills with ability to work collaboratively with community groups and volunteers and provide a quality customer service to clients.
  • Availability to work outside normal hours and travel as required.
