Casual Theatre Technician

Located on Dharawal land, on the edge of Greater Sydney, Campbelltown Arts Centre starts with artists and communities to facilitate an artistic program creating experiences that change lives. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Casual Theatre Technician to join our team.

About the role:

Working alongside the Head of Curatorial, Production Officer and curatorial team, you will provide technical and production services to Arts Centre programs, ensuring all performances and events are presented professionally.

The role will see you install and operate AV, sound and lighting equipment, provide technical assistance and assist with the bump in, operation and bump out of performances and other special events for the Arts Centre and its clients.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in light/sound/theatre technical production or substantial job-related experience in a similar position.
  • Extensive knowledge of theatre and events operations including the set up/pack down and operation of audio/visual systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekend work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong awareness and understanding of WHS issues and risk management.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Class C Driver’s Licence.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination or medical contraindication upon commencement (a verification will be conducted on recommended applicants).
  • Working with Children Check (a verification will be conducted on recommended applicants). This position has been identified as “child-related employment” under the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998. It is an offence under the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998 for a person convicted or found guilty of a serious offence against children (whether in NSW or elsewhere) to apply for this position.

What we are offering:

  • Hourly rate from $47.10 (inc. 25% casual loading + 10.5% superannuation)
  • Weekend penalties (+25% Saturdays and +50% Sundays) + Public Holiday penalties (when applicable)
