Casual Live Performance Theatre Technician

About the role
The Theatre Technician plays a critical role in delivering successful live performances and events, providing technical expertise in lighting, audio, vision, and staging to ensure a superior level of service delivery to diverse stakeholders. This role requires adaptability and flexibility to accommodate the dynamic and diverse nature of our performances and events. In this role you will construct, erect and rig scenic elements, operate audio and lighting equipment, and ensure the effective operation of the theatre’s technical aspects.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical theatre services under the guidance of the Technical Coordinators and Duty Technicians.
  • Reporting any faulty equipment to the Duty Technician on shift and Technical Coordinators.
  • Interpreting and executing the delivery of productions, functions and events.
  • Participating in bump-ins and bump-outs of productions and events.
  • Performing various tasks such as constructing and erecting scenic elements, rigging flown elements, operating counterweight and winch fly systems, rigging and operating audio, lighting and AV systems.


About You
You will have experience in operating and delivering technical theatre services for live performances and events, including lighting, sound, audio-visual, and staging. You’ll also bring an understanding of design principles (lighting, sound, vision, staging), technical skills in equipment setup and operation, and knowledge of various theatre equipment and applications.

It would be preferred but not essential for applicants to have a Tertiary level certification in technical theatre, live performance, or a related field.

Experience

  • Proficiency in programming consoles in one or more technical theatre discipline.
  • Customer service experience is essential.


Qualification

  • NSW Construction White Card Certification (essential)
  • Professional Working with Children’s Check clearance number (essential)
  • Rigging / Doggers Certification (desirable)
  • Test & Tag Certification (desirable)
  • Yellow Card (desirable)
  • Working at heights certification (desirable)

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $38.64 p/h (including 25% Casual Loading) + 11% Superannuation & Penalties.
