Casual Lighting Technicians, His Majesty’s Theatre Perth

AEG Ogden (Perth) Pty Ltd is the Venue Manager for the Perth Theatre Trust Venues including His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, Subiaco Arts Centre, State Theatre Centre and Albany Entertainment Centre.

We are seeking qualified and motivated individuals for casual positions as lighting technicians for His Majesty’s Theatre.

The successful applicants will begin work in January 2014 with the opportunity to continue as core casual staff in the venue from then onwards.

His Majesty’s Theatre employs Lighting Technicians to rig and operate the lighting system for productions or events taking place within the venue. The Lighting Technicians will rig, focus and plot the lighting rig, and operate the lighting systems and electrical machinery as required for the rehearsals and performances of any particular production or event.

Essential Criteria

Recognised qualifications in stage craft and/or at least 2 year comparable industry experience.

Demonstrated technical experience in an arts organisation and working within a team to produce live performance activities including theatre, dance, music, launches, conferences, workshops, festivals.

Advanced understanding of theatre terminology, etiquette and theatre craft;

Relevant training in theatrical lighting, or a related discipline

Demonstrated experience in follow spotting

Basic experience in plotting

Demonstrated working knowledge of lighting instruments and industry trends

Demonstrated ability in the maintenance of theatrical fixtures and equipment

Ability to read and interpret plans

Proven understanding in current OHS legislation

Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills

Evidence of initiative and self-motivation as well as effective team member.

Ability to provide a current National Police Clearance

Construction Industry Safety Awareness Training Certification (White Card)

Desirable Criteria

Statement of Attainment in Working at Heights

Statement of Attainment in Cords and Plugs

Statement of Attainment in PAT testing

Experience with EOS Lighting

Boards Riggers Ticket EWP license
