The Concourse, Chatswood – Casual Lighting Technician

An opportunity exists for Lighting technicians to become involved in one of Sydney’s leading performing arts spaces. Working within the in-house casual technical team your knowledge and experience will form an integral part of The Concourse experience to both clients and patrons.
Although this role is casual in nature, there are lots of hours of work available each week and would suit someone looking to work in just a single venue.
Key Responsibilities:
The Concourse Chatswood caters to a wide range of events and as such lighting technicians will be working in a broad range of live performance disciplines. There are multiple positions available at all levels of experience.
- Working in conjunction with the Technical Manager, ensure the highest possible standards of technical service is provided to our clients and patrons
- Deploying your relevant technical skill in delivering the required expertise when and where required
- Install, Operate and maintain Theatrical lighting equipment including
- Hanging, patching, & addressing fixtures including conventional and moving head fixtures.
- Operating Lighting consoles including ETC Gio and ETC Ion.
- Follow Spot operation
- Working within Work Health and Safety guidelines
Essential Criteria:
- Training or experience as a live production lighting technician and/or board operator
- Technical knowledge and experience with installation of theatrical lighting fixtures and equipment
- Sound understanding and demonstrate the safe use of power and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of modern lighting control systems and their safe use (ETC or other equivalent brands)
- Proven ability to work unsupervised, as well as in a team environment
- Ability to work safely as part of a team during bump in and bump outs, including safe lifting and physical work
- Ability to read/interpret technical plans and specifications
- A proven ability to work proactively and flexibly within not only your immediate team but also the entire The Concourse management group
- A competent standard of oral communication
- A high standard of personal appearance
Complimentary Criteria:
- EWP /safe work at height qualifications
- Experience with sACN, Multi-console environments and advanced ETC Gio programming
- Experience with lighting design
- Experience with lighting programming/operation for the following disciplines: Musicals, Live Music, Orchestras, Corporate Events, Dance Showcase, or Ballet
- A government recognized certification in an appropriate theatre discipline
- A current first aid certificate
- Dogging or Rigging Qualifications
