About the Company
West Australian Ballet (WAB) is the official State Ballet Company for Western Australia (based in Perth) and Australia’s longest running Ballet Company, established in 1952. The Company runs four major, main stage seasons each year as well as an extensive Access and Community Engagement program to enable wider public access to the ballet art-form.
The company has experienced significant growth in recent years led by Artistic Director,
Aurelien Scannella and has a steadily increasing portfolio of public and private supporters.
About the role
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for employment as casual Lighting Technicians. These employees will be available to assist us during the main stage seasons as required. As such employment hours will vary across the performance season according to the demands of the season.
This is an ideal opportunity for tertiary qualified students to gain some working experience alongside highly regarded industry professionals.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Knowledge of dimmer racks and Distro systems
• Addressing Networking/DMX systems for automated and LED fixtures.
• Ability to perform and track general service on lighting equipment.
• General office skills.
• Knowledge of overhead rigging systems.
• Setting up large lighting rigs with overhead rigging and small rigs with booms and/or truss towers.
• Knowledge of basic circuitry
About You:
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following characteristics and attributes
• Experience in Theatre, and/or event staging
• Self-starter who likes to work independently, as a team member,
• Valid driver’s license.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Enjoy travel and fluid work hours based upon event schedules.
• Have a love of learning, and keeping up with industry standards, methods, and innovations.
• Display a commitment to excellence
• Ability to work under pressure
• Flexible adaptable to meet the requirements of the event and site circumstances.
