Bruce Lynton BMW Charity Ball 2011

Lighting designer Dave Jackson specified over 40 Robe moving lights and VuePix P5 LED panels for the 11th Annual Bruce Lynton BMW Charity Ball – one of the most exciting social functions of the year on the Gold Coast, Australia.
The event was held on Saturday 21st May at RACV Royal Pines Resort. The foyer of the main building was lit by 6 Anolis ArcPad Xtremes specifically for this event to emphasise festive atmosphere.

The ball night begun with spectacular fireworks, which welcomed over 600 guests, with the special invitees Terri Irwin and Senator Mark Furner.

The main stage was illuminated with 24 Robin 600 LEDWash fixtures, together with 12 VuePix P5 LED panels, which provided great visual effects supporting performances by Jon Stevens and the Accidents who belt out the music entertainment over the evening.

Four Robin 600E Spots were placed behind the band on the stage with an additional 4 Robin 600E Washes on the front truss and 8 Robe 1200E Washes on side trusses, which lit the dance floor in the Grand ballroom. Phaseshift Productions supplied the venue with all the lighting equipment necessary to pull off this very successful event.

Lighting Designer Dave Jackson comments: “It was great to finally get to personally use the Robin 600 LEDWashes. Since we brought them they haven’t had any down time, in fact they were shipped from our Melbourne office on the Wednesday specially for this event after coming directly from the Gary Numan tour. I have to say, I was very impressed not only with the VuePix L Series LED Screen, but also with the new Robin 600 Spot and Wash lights that we had on demo for the show.”

Over the last 10 years the annual Bruce Lynton Charity Ball has raised more than $1.2 million dollars. Everyone who attended the event gave generously to the charity event also this year, with over $100,000 (and still counting) being raised for the Cancer Council, Guide Dogs, Surf Life Saving Australia and Young Care.
