Brad ‘Braddles’ Alcock from BAAC Light Delivers Another Clever Floor Package

Artist brief
These days, Braddles only designs tours with one approach: arena and regional show alignment from the very beginning. Before they began the national tour design back in January, the Human Nature lads and their management were clear — they wanted a regional product that matched the arena look and feel.

The core visual anchor for this show is the signature letter screens and bespoke content.

    Creative Intent

Over recent years, Braddles has built a bit of a reputation for adapting arena designs into tight, efficient regional touring rigs. He now designs both formats in parallel — arena and regional — so the audience experience stays consistent, whether you’re in a metro arena or a 1,200-seat regional theatre.

Braddles adds that tickets aren’t cheap anymore, and every punter deserves the same impact and magic — no matter the postcode.

    Key Challenges

The single biggest challenge? Truck space and weight.
When your entire production has to fit in a 4-tonner, every kilo counts. Careful consideration went into every element — dimensions, mass, deployment time, and visual payoff. That’s the game when you’re scaling down without compromising show quality.

    The Rig & Supply

The system was conceived and built using BAAC Light resources and hardware.

    Lighting towers (x6)
    • 2 × Robe Spikies per tower
    • 1 × ShowPRO LED Molefay
    • 1 × BAAC Light 1m × 1m P4 LED panel with custom fold-book frame for transport efficiency

    Floor package
    • 8 × Astera AX2 (pixel mode)
    • 4 × ACME Tornados

    Control
    • MA Lighting grandMA3 Compact

Everything else is supplemented from the in-house venue inventory at each stop.

    Programming & Execution

The regional show file originated from the national tour in March, so transitioning to the smaller touring package was efficient — just a few days to re-map, refine, and optimise.

    Set Pieces

In the national design, they used six 3m × 3m letter screens. For the regional run, the LED tower screens became scaled-down versions at 1m × 1m, preserving the key visual identity while making it truck-friendly.

    Video Elements

Human Nature already had a visual package created by Toby — from Human Nature — and it remained central. For projection, they used a Panasonic laser projector with SDI wireless and a .4 lens, delivering a massive image with an incredibly short throw — perfect for unpredictable theatre footprints and tight stages.
