About the role
As a Back of House Technician at the State Theatre, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of performances and events at our iconic Sydney venue. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this casual position will see you contributing to the set-up, operation, and maintenance of technical equipment and systems within the theatre.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting with the set-up, operation, and pack-down of technical equipment, including lighting, sound, and stage machinery.
- Performing general maintenance and repairs on technical equipment and systems.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues as they arise during performances and events.
- Collaborating with the production team to ensure the successful execution of each event.
- Adhering to all health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Providing excellent customer service to visiting production companies and performers.
What we’re looking for
- Relevant experience in a similar technical role within the performing arts or live events industry.
- Strong knowledge of theatre and event technical systems, including lighting, sound, and stage equipment.
- The ability to work well under pressure and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- A passion for the performing arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our audiences.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
