Expertise, professionalism and the latest in lighting equipment has helped keep Melbourne-based Clear Systems in business for over 30 years, so it was no surprise when they decided to add eight Ayrton Mistral-TC LED Spot fixtures to their inventory.
Sharing a form factor with its compact sibling, Merak, Mistral-TC is an extremely versatile, feature-rich, white LED source spot in an incredibly small package and a weight of less than 19 kg
“We were looking for the ideal fixture to fit into the mid-range of our hire inventory,” explained Daniel Bowen, Hire Manager at Clear Systems. “We used to stock both Robe ColorSpot 575 and ColorSpot 700s but with the size and output of the Mistrals, we really like that we can use the one fixture for both applications. So if you need a fixture that is physically small or a fixture with a lot of output, the Mistral covers both perfectly.”
Mistral-TC delivers an output of over 14,000 lumens and its new 13-lens proprietary optical system delivers an 8:1 zoom ratio with a zoom range of 6.7° to 53°. The optics, equipped with a 119mm frontal lens, can achieve an extremely uniform flat beam that can render images perfectly in all conditions and at any beam angle.
“We’ve been most impressed by the Mistral’s zoom, for such a small fixture to have such a large zoom is incredible,” said Daniel. “It was one of the key points as to why we thought the Mistral was the real winner for us.”
Daniel says that other than the zoom capabilities of the Mistral-TC, they weren’t impressed by any one particular feature rather the fact that the Mistral has all the features of a large fixture into a small body.
The Mistral-TC is designed for applications requiring perfect colour reproduction and once again pushes the boundaries of technology with an entirely new white LED module, calibrated at 7000K, with a native CRI greater than 90 and extremely high TM30 readings. Mistral-TC includes a CMY colour mixing system combined with a variable CTO and a seven-position complementary colour wheel for producing an infinite palette of vivid pastels and saturated colours.
“We love the Mistrals CMY system, the colours produced are fantastic while still managing to maintain its high CRI is a real winner,” remarked Daniel. “Top it off with the colour wheel offering awesome split colours – which look great mid-air when combined with the gobos – and with variable CTO and we really couldn’t ask for much more.”
The effects section includes 16 interchangeable HD glass gobos on two wheels: one rotating wheel with seven positions and one fixed wheel with nine positions. Its continuous dynamic effects wheel can be used in combination with the two gobo wheels to create unique graphical effects. MISTRAL™TC also features a 15-blade iris diaphragm, a five-facet rotating prism, and a soft-edge frost filter as standard equipment.
“The gobo selection in the Mistral is fantastic, the diversity through the selection makes the fixture a great all-rounder,” added Daniel. “We were really impressed with the high-quality motors used throughout the fixture that really become apparent when doing very subtle effects, we found no jittering when doing very slow gobo rotation or using the animation wheel.”
Powerful, fast, precise, versatile and intuitive, Mistral-TC offers unrivalled performance in its category with nothing of its size, weight, brightness and number of functions on the market.
Daniel commented that Branden Butler from Show Technology was a pleasure to deal with as always and really understood what they needed in their next purchase.
“The experience and knowledge resource behind the whole Show Technology team gave us the confidence to be the first to add these awesome fixtures to our inventory,” he concluded.
