The nation’s favorite entertainment show, Australia’s Got Talent, became the highest rating show so far this year, attracting an average viewing audience of 1.821 million for each episode. Judges Dannii Minogue, Kyle Sandilands and Brian McFadden have been trying to find the nation’s greatest talents and bringing those outstanding artists on stage to share their original performance with TV viewers.
Lighting designer Francesco Calvi, one of the Australia’s leading lighting designers, used ArKaos MediaMaster Pro Software to run his video show on the LED screens, which were used on the stage as a main visual media for the specatacular TV show.
ArKaos MediaMaster is a software solution for professional control of real-time video and effects that has been specially developed for lighting designers and desk operators. Built on ArKaos’ latest generation of technology, MediaMaster’s multi-threaded engine delivers blistering performance, by taking advantage of multi-core machines. The MediaMaster comes with improved frame blending support allowing extremely smooth video playback even at slow speeds and software genlock making it possible to play several HD movies at up to 60 fps without dropping a single frame.
Francesco Calvi comments: “This was my second Season Of Australia’s Got Talent. The media / video component had become more involved this year. There are four main video feeds: Main Screen, Video In Floor, Side LC Panels & LED Curtain. It’s a very different show to most I have worked on as the Acts are so varied. Media Master gives me the versatility to deal with all the acts. Quite often there is limited rehearsal time and camera time so it is important to be able to adapt and change quite quickly. Being able to quickly access, change and manipulate media is essential for this type of show and Media Master never lets me down. It has become my main piece of equipment on all my shows.“
This years crowd of talented Australian artists were competing for the $250,000 grand prize. From Beat boxers, hip-hop artists, singers, dance crews, sand artists, acrobats, contortionists, comedians, actors… even someone cooking sausages – just as long as they were talented, the judges wanted to see their performance!
The TV audience finally decided to crown Jack Vidgen, the electrifying 14-year-old singer from Sydney’s northern beaches, to be the winner of Australia’s Got Talent, 2011. Taking home the $250,000 prize, Vigen was also signed to a record contract with giant Sony shortly after his win.
