Audio Visual Technician

The Mackay Entertainment Convention Centre (MECC) is a state-of-the art multi-million dollar precinct which provides unique settings for conferences, exhibitions, seminars and banquets. The facility consists of many versatile spaces including a 1090 seat theatre, 100 seat studio space, two plenary halls which when fully extended seats 1800 people, two dedicated foyers, bars, an experimental theatre space, breakout rooms and extensive front-house and backstage facilities. The centre also comfortably accommodates up to 1000 people banquet style. 

The Role

The Audio-Visual Technician will assist in maintaining and managing the provision of Audio Visual services on a day to day basis and ensuring the overall technical and production needs of all centre users are met. The role is very hands on and requires the creation and implementation of Audio / AV systems as well as working closely with members of the Technical & Operations Teams to stage productions, installations, functions, conferences and other related activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of theatrical/conference audio and audio-visual systems or Certificate level tertiary qualification in technical production.
  • Current Working at Heights Certificate, EWP, Basic Riggers, Senior First Aid Certificates or ability to obtain.
  • Current Test & Tag qualification or Restricted Electrical Licence or ability to obtain
  • High level of computer literacy as required for the operation of audio software for the audio department
  • Blue Card – It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card.  Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy.  If you currently do not hold a Blue Card, we recommend you commence the application process when you apply for the position. The position is permanent full-time. Applicants must be willing to partake in an any five (5) out of seven (7) roster including weekends and nights.
