About the opportunity
The Audio Visual Technician’s role is to provide excellent client focused AV technical services to support the university’s research, teaching, learning, administrative and community engagement activities. The position is part of a customer focused team supporting and maintaining technology as well as supporting the people using it in over 1000 venues across the university.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- have a commitment to customer service excellence, support, advise and instruct University staff, students and external clients regarding the use of audio visual and ICT systems and equipment,
- solve problems and overcome obstacles related to the provision of AV technical services, making decisions as to the best technical solution to employ to solve issues
- coordinate as required, calls, counter enquiries and work email assignments for AV/ICT user support, services, faults and equipment loans etc. and update ICT work tracking systems, inventory and knowledge databases accordingly
- work with Project Managers and Designers to provide User Acceptance Testing, and Defect reporting services
- contribute to the preparation of documentation and training materials and participate in face-to-face client engagement and training activities
- undertake the training and mentoring of colleagues.
About you
- demonstrated knowledge of modern AV presentation and production equipment and systems
- substantial experience in an AV or ICT customer service/support role
- experience and skill in supporting, configuring and troubleshooting wireless and wired data networking technologies
- demonstrated ability to achieve strategic objectives by working autonomously, co-ordinating resources and showing initiative in refining systems and processes
- demonstrated ability in dealing with senior level stakeholders and clients in of all levels
- extensive experience in the operation and basic maintenance of audio visual and/or ICT systems and equipment.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
