Audio Visual Technician

A permanent, part-time position with approximately 30 flexible hours per fortnight to suit the needs of the College.

Commencing June, 2022.

The College Community 

Having commenced in 2017 with 86 students across Kindergarten to Year 6, St Luke’s at Marsden Park is a next generation learning community within the Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP). As a ‘next generation Catholic Learning Community’ we are designing and establishing the ‘new normal’ for preschool to post school learning in an environment characterised by a flexible, stage based curriculum which nurtures and grows faith-filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world. In 2022 we now enrol over 1400 students from Kindergarten to Year 11 in addition to 59 children per day in our long day centre with our first HSC cohort due to commence in 2023.

Role Outline 

With the understanding that the future is now, the Audio Visual Technician works as part of the IT Services team to work closely with students, staff, and relevant industry professionals to harness the potential of new audio and visual technologies in our contemporary Learning Hub, Marketplace and throughout the school. Furthermore, the Audio Visual Technician provides specialist technical support for school-based events and curriculum focused activities as we grow our specialist Creative and Performing Arts facilities across the College.

Role Requirements

The Audio Visual Technician is required to:

  • Learn and apply key skills around stage lighting, audio and mechanics
  • Keep up to date with technological developments in the audio visual sector to make recommendations and ensure the site has access to the best systems available for teaching and learning;
  • Develop and carry out regular testing and maintenance on audio visual resources throughout the site and develop and maintain documentation and electronic resources to promote the use of AV systems and infrastructure;
  • Work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines;
  • Demonstrate Interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel;
  • Possess strong planning and organisation skills;
  • Be available to assist with audio visual needs at school-based events;
  • Assist with the support, delivery and coordination of the service functions;
  • Other duties as directed by the principal leader or their delegate;
  • Postsecondary qualifications in the area of Live Stage Productions;
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position, within the education sector advantageous;
  • Relevant professional certifications i.e. CSP; and,
  • Exposure to Q-SYS, Crestron or similar AV automation systems.
