Audio/Visual Technician

St Paul’s Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational Christian Grammar school located in Sydney’s Greater West. An International Baccalaureate World School, located on expansive grounds across a 70-acre campus, St Paul’s students benefit from excellent facilities set amidst cultivated native gardens and bushland.

Position Summary:

The role of the Audio/Visual Technician is to facilitate the smooth and efficient operation of all AV services for the school; this includes Assemblies, Performances and Parent Events. This is executed through the provision of high level customer service, liaison with other key staff in the school and high level organizational skills. The position also encompasses organisation and service of AV equipment for the school through the IT Helpdesk.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Requisite IT skills.
  • Qualifications or Experience in Music, Dance and Drama performance and or Sound Engineering/Live sound
  • Has an experienced “ear” for various performance ensembles of different genres and styles
  • Experience with lighting setup and design
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, particularly in the areas of audio/visual and information technologies
  • Willingness to take direction and be flexible when conditions/requirements change
  • Ability to work closely and productively with staff and students
  • Ability to work well under pressure without losing focus; i.e. the ability to multitask
  • Ability to finalise tasks/projects thoroughly and apply improvements for the next project
  • Willingness to work after hours (recitals/musicals/concerts/speech nights etc.) on a time in lieu basis.
  • Ability to organise equipment well and keep it maintained and up to date.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated organisational skills including the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills specifically, the ability to work effectively with staff, students and visitors.
  • Willingness to develop professional skills, carrying out duties in a competent and conscientious manner, while seeking opportunities to improve knowledge and skills, including through participation in professional development.
  • To work cooperatively to maintain a consultative and collaborative workplace.
  • To work humbly, following reasonable instructions given by their supervisor, complying with school policies and procedures, and being accountable for their own actions and decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of an effective team.
  • Advanced-level skills using computer- based applications, including the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW WWCC).
  • Up to date COVID-19 Vaccination.
  • Active involvement in a local Christian Church or Christian Community
  • Current First Aid Certificate, including CPR.
