Call for Expressions of Interest – AV Awards Judges
AV magazine and the Integrate Show are getting together with the AV industry’s associations, including ALIA, to present Australia’s first professional AV industry awards for excellence and innovation.
To assist in the process of setting awards standards, assessment criteria and to ultimately participate in judging the awards winners, ALIA is providing at least two volunteer industry representatives to the inaugural Awards Panel.
If you believe that you could make a contribution to that Panel on behalf of ALIA, we would like to hear from you.
Who should apply?
Anyone who knows a good AV/lighting idea, and quality work when they see it, and is prepared to explain why to the other members of the Panel.
You could be a tech, a programmer, a manager, a designer, an engineer, a student, an installer, an operator, a teacher, or a consultant. Whatever your involvement in the industry, you must be a current financial member of ALIA, either in your own right, or through a corporate member.
What are the Awards categories and who exactly is participating?
If you don’t have a recent issue of AV magazine handy, you can read more about the awards from this document <www.av.net.au/downloads/AVIA_Info.pdf>.
What is an Awards Panel member expected do?
Work with the other Panel members from ALIA, InfoComm, AETM, AV and Integrate to set out judging criteria for each of the Awards categories. Provide expertise to the Panel to assist with the selection of the finalists for each of the Award categories. Participate in the final assessment and Award selection process immediately prior to the Integrate show in August.
Where will the Awards Panel meet?
Initial Panel meetings will be conducted by phone and video conference, but final awards judging will be held in Sydney on the weekend immediately prior to the Integrate show. Travel and accommodation costs for Panel duties will be covered from the nomination fee on awards entries, and contributions from the Integrate organisers and the publishers of AV magazine.
How do you apply?
Send an email marked ‘Expression of Interest’ to the ALIA committee (awards@alia.com.au), setting out what you have to offer an Awards Panel and why you would be a good representative of ALIA. (Only large bribes will be acknowledged).
