About the role
Theatre Safe Australia are seeking an experienced and proactive Associate Production Manager to support the successful planning, coordination, logistics and documentation of production work across TSA’s portfolio.
TSA’s dynamic Production Department caters to a diverse range of client needs, providing equipment and services tailored to their specific requirements. From small-scale ‘dry hires’ to full-scale productions such as major touring musicals, and even cutting-edge automation and performer flying for international clients, our team delivers excellence across the board
What you’ll be doing
- Assist with adherence to technical specifications across rigging, automation, scenery, drapery, and other production elements
- Support setup and execution of technical systems to meet client and TSA standards
- Coordinate production staffing and schedule team members to meet technical and logistical needs
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and clients to support setup, rehearsal and performances requirements.
- Coordinate sourcing, preparation, and timely delivery of production equipment and materials
- Arrange crew logistics including travel, accommodation, and ground transport for domestic and international work
- Support scoping, budgeting, quoting, reconciliation, and maintain financial records
- Assist with invoicing and cost tracking
- Create and manage documentation such as rigging plans, schematics, and production schedules
- Deliver progress and post-production reports to support continuous improvement
- Uphold WH&S standards and encourage safe, transparent reporting
- Ensure production activities align with TSA values and protocols
- Coordinate technical setup, staffing, and logistics for efficient, safe delivery
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Provide clear guidance and support to crews, fostering collaboration and growth
- Monitor and control production budgets to ensure cost-effective results
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience coordinating productions or technical projects (theatre or live events experience) is desirable.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex schedules, priorities and deadlines under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other administrative tools to support planning and reporting.
- Experience with CAD programmes (e.g. AutoCAD) is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and crew.
- Technical knowledge of production equipment, staging, or rigging is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret stage plans and schematics.
- A proactive approach and commitment to upholding safety and company values.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel as required, to support production transfer work and site visits.
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills to handle the dynamic nature of live events
