Rail-Pipe HC, the 6-channel constant voltage dimmer & intelligent power supply from Artistic Licence, has undergone a significant upgrade. The product now features a choice of four dimming personalities, ensuring that optimal performance can be achieved with any fixture.
At the highest level of resolution, the product supports 16-bit dimming, using pseudo-random pulse modulation (PRPM). This technique is particularly desirable as it gives the smoothest dimming and minimum audible power supply noise; it also causes no problems when viewed on high definition TV.
However, certain LED products (and many constant voltage to constant current adapters) do not work well with this modulation technique. In such cases, Rail-Pipe HC can be set to output 8-bit or 12-bit pulse width modulation (PWM), a very common dimming technique.
Featuring full RDM (remote device management) capability, Rail-Pipe HC provides easy start address programming and dimming personality selection. The product also offers a handy test mode, useful for checking the lighting rig or installation during commissioning.
