Armor Cases Releases New Road Case for Yamaha QL5 Mixing Console

Armor Cases, a Sydney-based manufacturer specialising in protective transport cases, has announced the release of a newly designed road case tailored specifically for the Yamaha QL5 digital mixing console. This release is aimed at professional users in the audio production industry, including production companies, venues, and freelance engineers, who rely on reliable and durable transport solutions to protect high-value equipment in the field.

The case is designed as a lift-off lid console case. A format widely favoured in the industry for its ease of use during both setup and pack down. The lift-off lid approach allows the console to remain in the bottom half of the case during operation, reducing handling time and minimising the risk of accidental damage during load-ins and load-outs. This is especially beneficial in fast-paced touring environments and for mobile production setups where efficiency and protection are both priorities.

A key feature of this new road case is its construction. It is built from 12mm birch veneer plywood, a material well-known in the road case industry for its strength, dimensional stability, and long-term resilience under heavy use. Birch veneer plywood strikes a balance between structural integrity and manageable weight, making it suitable for frequent transport in trucks, trailers, and other mobile setups. The case is fitted throughout with Penn Elcom hardware, trusted components in professional touring gear, which include heavy-duty catches, handles, and extrusions that contribute to the overall durability and build quality.

Internally, the case has been designed with attention to both protection and workflow. A general-purpose storage compartment is included beneath the QL5 console, providing room for essential accessories such as cables, power supplies, and small tools. This helps consolidate equipment and reduces the need for additional cases, which can simplify logistics and reduce transport volume.

One of the standout design features of this case is the inclusion of a rear-mounted dogbox. The dogbox serves two primary functions: it conceals the rear wiring of the mixing console, helping to maintain a clean appearance during use, and it allows rear cable connections to remain in place even while the console is housed in the case. This feature is particularly appreciated in applications where the console may stay in its case for the duration of a show or tour, offering both practicality and a neater, more efficient setup.

The case is mounted on a set of four heavy-duty castor wheels for mobility. Two of these castors are braked, allowing the case to remain stationary during use or storage. The braked castors are essential for safe positioning on sloped or uneven surfaces, such as ramps, warehouse floors, or loading docks. The wheels are selected to handle the weight of the case and console without compromising on maneuverability.

Every detail of this road case has been carefully considered and engineered with professional users in mind. The target customer for this product is someone who expects high standards in both function and finish, typically users with high-end audio equipment that requires dependable protection during frequent moves. The result is a rugged, practical, and efficient transport solution that aligns with the needs of modern production workflows.

With this release, Armor Cases continues to expand its lineup of purpose-built transport cases designed specifically for the live events industry. The Yamaha QL5 case joins an existing range of cases developed for other industry-standard consoles, lighting desks, and video equipment, all sharing a consistent approach to quality, detail, and real-world usability.

For production professionals seeking a long-lasting and functional solution for transporting their Yamaha QL5, this new road case offers a well-engineered option backed by local manufacturing and support.
