Some of you may remember Kurt Wagner from his years working in lighting in Australia. Well Kurt returned to Vancouver about five years ago and has continued to stay active in the touring market. He has designed set and lighting for K.D. Lang, Barenaked Ladies, Avril Lavigne, Jann Arden and Michael Buble, who he has been with for about four years now.
“I’ve been lucky as I’ve had a chance to work with some great artists since I moved back to Vancouver,” Kurt told ALIA. “But will always have fond memories of the Australian artists I worked for”.
Kurt is returning to Australia this month with spunky crooner Michael Buble who, unlike many other artists, is bringing his whole show to Australia. This will include 14 High End DL 2’s, extensive soft LED throughout the rig (4 custom lighting borders and 7 panels 24′ x 8′ on the upstage spinner truss), plus 50 moving lights (Martin 2Ks + Mac Performances). There is also a mixture of analog with the main light being a smaller blinder called a 20 lite. Consoles are grandMA’s and operating system for all the LED is a system called Vixen. The truss system is a custom swing wing truss.
Kurt has kindly agreed to conduct a tour of his lighting in Perth on June 15th.
