ADJ introduces new Encore LB15IP linear wash fixture

Offering the enhanced colour mixing and high CRI advantages of LEDs integrating lime chips, the new Encore LB15IP from ADJ Lighting is a professional linear wash fixture that is powerful, robust, and versatile. Its IP-rated exterior casing means that it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, while individual pixel control and a large gamut of colours – including tunable white – mean that it can be used to generate both static washes and animated ‘eye candy’ effects.

The Encore LB15IP features 15 separate high output 4-in-1 colour mixing LEDs that each incorporate individually controllable red, green, blue and lime elements. Each LED is rated at 20-Watts and offers a wide variety of colour options achieved through mixing the four primary colours at varying levels of intensity. These include white light with a variable colour temperature of 2700K to 7000K, which can be easily selected using either linear control or one of six preset macros. Inclusion of the lime LED element boosts both CRI and perceived brightness as well as filling in gaps in the colour spectrum. 16-bit fine control over the four primary LED elements allows for a huge variety of colour possibilities, while 64 built-in macros facilitate easy selection of popular options.

With a robust metal construction, the LB15IP is designed for use in professional entertainment lighting environments. It has an IP65 rating, which means that it is sealed to prevent the ingress of liquid, snow, dust, and sand. This makes it suitable for temporary outdoor use as well as for indoor applications where the fixture may be subject to liquid spillage or come into contact with excessive dirt or debris. It is supplied with two variably-angled brackets – one on each side – that can be used to stand the fixture directly on the floor or (with the attachment of the included Omega brackets) hang it from a truss or lighting rail. Degree markings integrated into the brackets’ locking mechanisms make it easy not only to ensure that both brackets on a single fixture are set to precisely the same angle but also that multiple fixtures positioned side-by-side are uniformly angled.

The unit has a concise native beam angle of 11-degrees, however this can be easily widened to 25-degrees using the supplied frost filter. This slips conveniently into a lens frame built into the front of the fixture and is secured in place by a latch. Additional frost filter options are available as optional accessories, offering beam angles of 20, 60 or 100-degrees. The fixture is also supplied with a detachable glare shield, which attaches to the unit using three thumb-tightening screws (also provided).

Ten different DMX modes are offered by the fixture, using between 4 and 120 channels. Using the more expansive DMX modes, the RGBL colour mixing of each LED can be controlled independently to allow the creation of animated chase patterns across a single fixture as well as pixel-mapped effects across a larger collection of units. Meanwhile, for applications where available DMX channels are limited, the DMX modes requiring fewer channels group all the LEDs together for the purpose of colour mixing. However, the fixture is also pre-programmed with 13 internal chase patterns which can be triggered remotely via DMX – with customizable speed and fade times – allowing for the creation of animated effects even in situations where DMX channel availability is limited.

In total, the fixture offers a choice of 10 different DMX modes (4, 7, 8, 13, 60, 63, 69, 72 & 120). Mode selection, as well as DMX addressing and configuration of other operating parameters, is facilitated via a 16-character OLED display with four corresponding push buttons located on the rear panel. This provides a menu-driven interface which is easy to navigate making the fixture easy to setup for different applications and user preferences. Useful options available through the menu include Pixel Flip and Fan Speed (Auto, High or Silent). The fixture also offers six selectable dimming modes (standard, stage, TV, architectural, theatre and stage 2), four selectable dimming curves (linear, square, inverse square, and s-curve) and fourteen LED refresh rate options ranging from 900Hz to 25KHz. All these settings can be configured either from the menu display or remotely via DMX.

The fixture is compatible with ADJ’s WiFLY EXR wireless DMX protocol, allowing it to receive a DMX signal wirelessly from a compatible WiFLY transmitter or another WiFLY-equipped fixture over a distance of up to 2500 ft. / 700m (line of sight). It is also supplied with IP65-rated 5-pin DMX input and output sockets to allow integration into a cabled DMX setup as well as IP65-rated locking power input and output sockets. The latter allows up to 5 fixtures at 120V (or 10 at 220V) to be daisy-chained from a single power outlet, while both signal and power input sockets are located on one side of the fixture and corresponding output sockets are located on the other side to aid with convenient and neat cable runs.

The Encore LB15IP is part of a whole series of new IP65-rated wash fixtures from ADJ which all feature the same 20-Watt RGBL colour mixing LEDs. The range includes four static LED par options – the Encore LP5IP, Encore LP7IP, Encore LP12IP and Encore LP18IP, which incorporate 5, 7, 12 and 18 of the LEDs respectively – as well as a 7 LED zooming par – the Encore Z7LP (coming soon) – and a wash panel fixture which features 32 LEDs – the Encore LP32IP. Because all these fixtures utilize identical LEDs, two or more fixture types can be incorporated within a stage or event lighting design and deliver perfectly consistent color mixing.

“The LB15IP is a punchy and versatile linear LED wash fixture designed for rental, event production and concert touring applications,” explains ADJ USA’s National Sales Manager, Alfred Gonzales. “It builds on the success of our popular 15 HEX BAR IP, providing ADJ customers an alternate product option which offers the high CRI advantages of an LED source incorporating a lime chip. The RGBL LED engine offers a huge gamut of colours, including any colour temperature of white light between 2700K and 7000K which is essential for properly illuminating people of all skin tones.”
