JPJ Audio had a huge weekend in the rain looking after the AFL Grand Final in Brisbane and the NRL Grand Final in Sydney.
For the NRL Grand Final JPJ installed complete audio, signal distribution and comms solutions at ANZ Stadium for the NRL. This year was not short of its challenges with a live broadcast in the pouring rain.
Audio Director George Gorga took care of the Broadcast and Bowl mixes on a Yamaha PM10. Amy Shark was the pre-show entertainment this year with her monitors mixed on a DiGiCo SD9.
All the RF for the event was from the Shure range using Shure Axient Digital for all the microphones. The main mics for the event were all ADX FD, all the IEMs for the act and IFB’ for the MC’s were Shure PSM 1000s. Wedges on stage and the FOP were Clair CM-14s and some L’Acoustics 108ps for stage fills.
JPJ installed a redundant fibre ring to get all the signals around the Stadium for the different departments. Riedel MediorNet for audio and video signals and Luminex Switches for Vlan management taking care of signals for audio, lighting and pyro. JPJ used a Riedel artist system for the comms system with a large amount of Riedel Bolero for all the wireless comms on the field. Our Friends D2N supplied JPJ with a Hytera Radio package for all the extra communication needs interfacing all of them into our comms system.
The NRL Grand final has always been a big event for JPJ Audio and while it was wet and cold out there all the crew were ready for the extra challenges 2020 had brought us with clean and dirty zones and the challenges that came along with that to deliver this event.
Thanks to the NRL for all the support over the years and it was great to be back in the Stadium with them and looking forward to the upcoming State of Origin Series.
Crew: Wayne Mulder, Chris Skin, Nathan Todd, Kellie McKee, Dean Stander, Joel Larson.
Thanks to Jason Owen from D2N and Peter Twartz for all their help and support on this event.
