Bright Black AV recently purchased Robe and Avolites for their rental production inventory. Bright Black AV & their team of expert technical operators represent the cutting-edge of audiovisual & event staging in North Queensland. Bright Black AV’s Managing Director, Liam Elliston has been in the entertainment industry for 24 years. He and wife Christine have an extensive background in event co-ordination and theming. Bright Black AV was formed 3 years ago, and in those 3 years they have grown to become one of North Queensland’s largest AV companies. Liam was so happy with his previous acquisition of Robe fixtures that he decided to invest in further Robe inventory comprising of ColorSpot 575AT’s and an Avolites Pearl Tiger for the lighting control. “We didn’t want to go with just any desk, as the industry standard now seems to have the grandMA’s and Avolites at the fore.
The Pearl Tiger had everything we needed and the price was within our budget. Overall it was the best choice for our business”, says Liam. The Pearl Tiger offers everything to the programmer or operator needs for quick and easy programming of small to medium sized shows – with all the power, ease of use and versatility of a full sized Pearl. “Our staff are quite impressed with it,” says Liam. “We are now in a position to do the large shows that come our way with ease. It now places us in a very formidable market position.
We now have the right equipment for the right jobs”. This was Liam’s second major purchase with ULA. “We started with the Robe 250AT Spots and Washes and have had great feedback and no dramas from them. Robe is recognised throughout the industry as an excellent moving light and we like to keep industry standard equipment in our hire inventory”, says Liam. “The Robe ColorSpot 575 was a great choice for Bright Black AV as the ColorSpot 575AT mirrors the excellent features and design styling of Robe’s latest ColorSpot 1200AT.” Bright Black AV’s first gig using the ColorSpot 575AT was for a 3 day conference and gala dinner for ‘Tyrepower’ housed at the Sebel in Cairns. “Everyone one was very impressed with the themeing and lighting effects,” says Liam.
Liam said they were specifically picked for the frost filter which enables them to produce great wash effects, as well as for gobo projection. Bright Black’s Robe inventory has definitely become a key asset in their production inventory. “Our business is very corporate,” he continues. “Our major line of work includes event staging for conferences, gala dinners and off site events. Our recent purchase of Robe fixtures has definitely improved our choices and corporate profile. We’ve got the technology, equipment and experience and were continually promoting North Queensland to the national and international markets”.
ULA prides itself on working together with our dealers bringing them the latest technology and product support. “During our recent purchase we had deadlines to adhere to as we had major events we needed equipment for. The service we got from ULA was efficient and they did everything to meet our deadline. We are happy and confident to be a part of ULA’s Robe network”, concludes Liam.
