Chapel Off Chapel is one of Melbourne’s most iconic performance venues, presenting an exciting mix of theatre, music and live performance. We’re looking for a Technical Lead who will help bring productions to life and ensure every performance runs smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced theatre technician who enjoys both the technical craft of live production and leading a small team. You’ll work closely with producers, hirers and performers to create professional, safe and memorable live experiences for audiences.
In this role you’ll
- Oversee the delivery of technical production requirements across theatre, music and live events at Chapel Off Chapel
- Lead and coordinate casual technical staff to ensure productions run efficiently and safely
- Collaborate with artists, producers and hirers to plan and deliver their technical needs
- Operate and maintain lighting, audio and AV systems to support high-quality performances
- Provide technical guidance and support to visiting production teams
- Contribute to scheduling, production planning and technical coordination across events
- Maintain venue equipment, documentation and asset registers to ensure reliable operations
- Uphold professional production standards and support a safe working environment for all venue users
You’ll receive a salary of $83,480 – $95,636 per annum, plus 12% superannuation, along with the benefits of working at the City of Stonnington.

You’re a technically skilled theatre professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced live performance environment. You take pride in delivering productions that run seamlessly and enjoy collaborating with artists, producers and technical crews to bring performances to life.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience working in a theatre, live performance or production environment
- Strong knowledge of lighting, audio and production systems used in live events
- Ability to Lead technical teams and Support visiting production crews
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to Manage multiple productions and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills when working with artists, production teams and internal stakeholders
- A Collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality live performance experiences
- Technical experience with ETC EOS lighting desks, Yamaha CL/QL audio consoles, Dante systems or Art-Net will be highly regarded.
